ellen orleans

A longtime writer, fairly-recent Quaker, occasional lesbian activist, and big-time nature geek, Ellen Orleans writes of spiritual seeking, human interaction, political dismay, and the lure of the outdoors. Her books include Who Cares If It’s a Choice? and the Lammy-winning The Butches of Madison Country. She’s also the author of a two-act play, God, Guilt and Gefilte Fish.  Her work has been published in anthologies and periodicals across the U.S., including Women’s GLIB, Wilma Loves Betty, The Washington Post and GirlJock.  She teaches creative writing in Boulder, where she landed after a Jewish, New Jersey upbringing. Ellen completed her MFA in Writing at Goddard College in 2001 and is currently at work on her third novel, Measuring Up.
