gloria baker feinstein

Gloria Baker Feinstein has been involved with photography since she began photographing as a young child. She obtained an MA in photography from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1979 and went on to open a gallery devoted to 20th century fine art photography. The Baker Gallery was a center for photographic activity during the 1980’s in Kansas City. Feinstein exhibited internationally recognized photographers, as well as mid-career and emerging photographers. At the age of 40, she decided to take up her own camera once again and has been passionately involved in making pictures ever since. Over the course of the past twelve years, Feinstein has exhibited her work in juried and invitational shows across the country. Recent group shows include Women in Photography International, Selections from the A.G. Edwards Corporate Collection, and Selections from the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis Flat Files. Solo exhibitions include the Dolphin Gallery in Kansas City, Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon, The Photography Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and The David Posnack Jewish Community Center in Boca Raton, Florida. Feinstein’s work can be found in the collections of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Center for Creative Photography, the University of Kentucky Art Museum, University of Texas at Austin and the High Museum, among others. Convergence, a book of Feinstein’s work, was published in 2002 by the Yellow Bird Press. Her second book, Among the Ashes, was published in 2004.
