Julia Doughty has taught writing courses throughout California to all ages in community centers, colleges, and schools since 1989. As an instructor, her titles have included: California Arts Council Guest Aritist, California Poet in the Schools, San Diego Writing Center Writer-in-Residence, and Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry grant recipient.
Her plays have been produced in San Diego theatres, including The Fritz Theatre, Studio 856, Bowery Theatre, and Sushi Performance Gallery.
Chapbooks include Kavya Kala: Turtle Island Harvest (2002) and Dream Homes (1987, Bird Cage Review). Poems appear in Wood, Water, Air and Fire (1999, Pot Shard Press), We'Moon Calendar (1998; 1995), Silver-Tongued Sapphistry (1990, Silver-Tongued Sapphists), and literary journals. She edits and is a contributing member of ensemble jourine and ensemble antholozine: hybrid writing by women.
